Duhme had no idea whether he'd be also compatible as he and his wife first consulted doctors about the transplant, and that there'd be considered a large miaozi capsule risk of the kidney being rejected whether or not the surgery might take place.

Duhme recalls the doctors telling him: "'If you want to give her your kidney, you've got to lose 30 kilograms (66 pounds). Otherwise the surgeon won't even look at you.'"

"And that basically have been effective for me personally," he said.

A computer company consultant and co-owner inside a catering business two day diet with his wife, Duhme has made time to fit training around an active life and a strict diet.

The 40-year-old Duhme, as he prepares for his first triathlon in the Olympic distance around the first weekend of November, is far fitter and healthier than if this particular journey began.
